Local organisations are providing a network of warm, welcoming places across the borough for the benefit of Walsall residents
A community initiative funded by Walsall Council and the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund is working in partnership with Walsall Community Network to provide a range of warm, space venues across the region. The ‘Warm Walsall’ programme is running now and will continue until March.

The programme was first launched at the of 2022, in direct response to the cost-of-living crisis. The aim was – and remains – to offer a helping hand to anyone who might be struggling. Participating venues are warm and friendly, and offer those who turn up a hot drink.
In addition, many of the organisations taking part offer a range of social and well-being activities that will help to keep residents healthy and well throughout winter. Coffee mornings, friendship groups and other social events are also run at some venues.
The venues include churches, community centres, fitness centres and Aldridge Youth Theatre, and are located across the region’s four localities.
Venues are open and activities run at different times, so local residents are advised to check the Warm Walsall website for details.
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which supports the Warm Walsall initiative, was established by central government to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK. It does this through investment in communities and place, supporting local business, people and skills.
Cllr Garry Perry, Leader of Walsall Council, says: ‘I am incredibly proud of the work being done by our communities to open up their spaces across Walsall during winter. Not only they provide a warm welcome, but also a crucial lifeline for those experiencing the cost-of-living crisis. Staff and volunteers running the sessions will be there to give you a warm welcome, whatever the weather.’
Jan Davies, Chair of Walsall Community Network, adds: ‘Our groups and organisations are at the heart of our communities, stepping up and supporting residents with their needs. We’re delighted that we are able to continue the Warm Walsall project and help local organisations open their doors and provide a warm space. The activities of each venue will vary, but a warm welcome awaits you.’
