Looking for a career in social care? Consider Wakefield Council
‘I’m not from Wakefield and I don’t live here, but I applied for a job in social care and it was the best thing I ever did,’ said one adult social worker.
Right now, less people than ever are looking to begin a career in social care. A number of different reports show vacancy rates have dropped to the lowest level on record due to poor treatment and bad pay. However, they’re some organisations and authorities that make working as a carer look like a dream.
Over the last month, Wakefield Carers Career Hub have been speaking to social workers across the adult care department and people have had nothing but positive things to say about their experience. One lady remarks getting a job in care there as, ‘the best thing I ever did’ and she’s not from Wakefield nor does she live there now. Another lady said if you’e looking for a job where you can be ‘innovative, creative and feel heard’, then this is the best path for you.
