Following the news that numerous supermarket food pouches have been found to lack key nutrients for children, the leading baby food brand has struck a new partnership to bring balanced meals to families’ fridges.
Pots for Tots have teamed up with Annabel Karmel – an award-winning chef that specialises in children’s nutrition – to create healthy meals that will actually benefit babies and toddlers.
The news comes after an investigation revealed earlier this week a number of well-known baby food brands lack key vitamins and nutrients that are essential to a child’s diet. Some were even discovered to contain more sugar than a can of Coca Cola.
The partnership has produced a number of different food products, some including recipes straight out of Karmel’s latest cookbook Finger Foods. They are now available for delivery and can be stored in the freezer.
‘We’re so proud to join forces with Annabel Karmel – a name parents have trusted for decades,’ Charrelle Beckitt, founder and CEO of Pots for Tots said. ‘Right now, parents are overwhelmed, trying to do their best while supermarket brands keep letting them down with misleading claims. This partnership is about standing with families – giving them the honesty, nutrition, and support they truly deserve.’
Against this backdrop, Annabel Karmel hasn’t always been such a trusted brand. In 2022 research from the British Dental Association discovered some of their food pouches contained too much sugar for children of such a young age. However, the pouches that were tested, which includes an Apple, Blueberry and Banana one, have now been withdrawn from the UK market.
‘Parents shouldn’t have to choose between health, convenience, price or home-cooked quality – they want all of it, and rightly so,’ Beckitt continued.
‘What we hear time and again is that parents are looking for meals they can trust: food that’s genuinely nutritious, feels home cooked, and fits into busy family time.’
Annabel Karmel added: ‘I’ve always believed in making mealtimes fun, healthy and stress-free for parents. Teaming up with Pots for Tots means families can now enjoy my favourite recipes, freshly prepared and ready to heat, whenever they need them. It’s a game changer for busy mums and dads.’
