The new Welbourne Health Centre in the London Borough of Haringey will provide primary care services and quality healthcare for people of all ages. The Lawrence House Group, a GP practice which currently has four surgeries in Haringey, has relocated its medical centres from Hale Village and Dowsett Road to the new building.
The development has been delivered by Haringey Council and NHS North Central London Integrated Care Board (ICB).
Cllr Ruth Gordon, Cabinet Member for Placemaking and Local Economy and Cllr Lucia das Neves, Cabinet Member for Health, Social Care and Wellbeing at Haringey Council, says: ‘We are delighted by the opening of the Welbourne Health Centre, which has been achieved through close collaboration between the council and our local health partners. The council has made this a priority for a considerable period and know the benefits it will bring to thousands of people in the area.
‘Having a much-needed facility like this will significantly improve access to health and care services for people in Tottenham, including the 131 families who will be moving into our brand-new council homes in what will become known as Walter Tull House. We are proud of our part in delivering a project which puts people at its heart and is pivotal in building a place that supports the whole community.’
Sarah McDonnell-Davies, Executive Director of Place at NHS North Central London Integrated Care Board, adds: ‘The opening of the Welbourne Health Centre in Haringey marks another key milestone in our drive to modernise General Practice sites in North Central London. We are committed to the development of our local health estate. This will help ensure we continue to deliver high quality services that meet the needs of local communities.
‘It has taken nearly a decade of collaborative effort by partners in the NHS and Local Council to get Welbourne Health Centre over the line. We would like to thank everyone who has helped make the new health centre a reality.’
Dr John Rohan, GP Partner at Lawrence House Group, says: ‘We are extremely pleased to be welcoming patients to our brand-new health centre. Being based in modern, more spacious premises will provide our team with the tools and environment we need to deliver a range of services to patients.
‘The rapid housing expansion taking place in the local area over recent years highlights the need for first-rate facilities that can meet the expected increase in demand for primary care. For residents, Welbourne Health Centre will mean better access to high quality healthcare in their community. We are proud to be part of a development that will make a positive difference to local people’s lives.’
