Highland Council social care chief to leave authority

The Highland Council has announced its executive chief officer for health and social care is to leave the authority in September.

The chair of the council’s health and social care committee, Cllr Linda Munro said Lesley Weber is leaving due to ‘unforeseen family circumstances.

‘In the relatively short time we got to know her she touched us all as a valued and respected colleague. I wish her all the very best for her future,’ added Cllr Munro.

The council said it will now move to begin the recruitment process for this important post.

In a statement, Ms Weber said it was with ‘great sadness’ that she is leaving the Highlands after 12 months in the role.

‘I am impressed with the endless commitment and dedication shown by staff during what has been a particularly challenging time for Highland, amplified by the impact of Covid,’ she said.

‘This crisis will have touched the lives of so many, both personally and professionally, yet staff across health and social care pulled together swiftly and unanimously, demonstrating the strengths and passion held within Highland.’
