The City of York Council’s Safeguarding Adults Team is looking to appoint a part time Social Care Manager (with Social Work England or equivalent registration and eligible to work in the UK).

This post may interest you if you are a Social Worker or other related professional with at least 2 years post-qualifying experience, and specifically experience of working to Safeguard Adults.

Within this role you will be involved in duty work, triaging safeguarding concerns presented to the team, and making recommendations under sections 42 and 44 of the Care Act. You will conduct Safeguarding Adults Enquiries with individuals who have care and support needs, holding complex caseloads, conducting necessary assessments of risk and mental capacity, and making referrals to other services where appropriate. The small, friendly team is committed to working with strengths based approaches to achieve the outcomes identified by the person themselves. Often the work will involve close partnership working with colleagues in the Police and in Health.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express him/herself spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
