Inspiring inclusive education, family help and skills to enable thriving and sustainable communities.
As Shropshire Council makes steady progress on our journey of improvement and culture change, we’re busy building a special senior leadership team that will rebuild the council and Shropshire itself. The challenges are large and complex, but the opportunities are commensurate with the task; so if you’re looking for serious career development, you’ll be joining an organisation with ambition to match your own.
It's an incredibly exciting time in Children's Services. We've already made real progress for children, young people and families but we're still ambitious that we can achieve even more!
You'll take the lead in implementing and embedding our approach to Family Help across Shropshire, alongside the Best Start in Life programme, Local Youth Transformation Programme and Local Area SEND Reform Plan to improve the lives of children, young people and families so we enable thriving and sustainable communities.
You'll use your influence and leadership to bring the voices of children and young people to the forefront of all decision making across Children's Services, and the council working with Members, as we embrace the desire to make Shropshire a 'child friendly' county.
You'll bring agility, adaptability and curiosity to addressing challenging topics, such as workforce, preventative approaches, sufficiency in a rural county, improving attainment and multi-agency partnership delivery through local areas. You'll utilise national, regional and local best practice to embed our drive for continuous improvement and further improve the quality of practice across our outstanding Children's Services.
You'll take a strategic approach, along with other Service Directors and partners, to developing the education, skills and employment pathways for young people and working age adults across Shropshire so that more young people remain, return, or move into Shropshire, as a work and life destination of choice.
