Get Doncaster Moving (GDM) is one of our flagship approaches to achieving our ambitions of thriving people and places, with Movement, Physical Activity and Sport recognised as a priority enabler for tackling inequalities and embedding system thinking and approaches.
GDM is not one single organisation or project. It’s the name of Doncaster's approach to tackling inequalities in physical activity through innovative and evidence-based methods. It involves a wide range of stakeholders working together to achieve our shared vision of healthy and vibrant communities through movement, physical activity and sport.
A unique opportunity has arisen to join the GDM team, working alongside Well Doncaster. We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual who has knowledge or experience of applying whole systems approaches to improve public health and wellbeing of our population through movement, physical activity and sport.
The Public Health Improvement Coordinator, Get Doncaster Moving role is central, to supporting and growing the key component of GDM’s work, alongside our Community Teams and colleagues to utilise Movement, Physical Activity and Sport to support City of Doncaster's Council’s community centred approaches to tackle inequalities across our communities.
GDM’s approach to partnerships, collaboration and building a strong and connected network, focusses on how we work together; including learning and developing ourselves as individuals, organisations and collectively as a network of leaders. The Public Health Improvement Coordinator, Get Doncaster Moving will have knowledge and understanding of how, Movement, Physical Activity and Sport can improve the lives of residents and communities.
You will have experience and expertise of supporting and encouraging partners to use an evidence-based approach that will enable greater impact, maximising resources, sharing data, evidence and insight, to inform and influence strategic and operational decision-making.
Get Doncaster Moving Team, connect and collaborate to deliver the priorities within our shared strategy. Our iterative and flexible approach allows us to respond quickly to new and emerging opportunities, meaning that the scope of our work adapts to what is required.
The post holder will work within this environment and will need to show experience of working with a variety of partners, being able to negotiate and advise how Movement Physical Activity and Sport can tackle complex issues. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills and resilience who can represent GDM by sharing learning with partners and demonstrating impact, that translates into actions and activity that meet their priorities.
The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly to provide support across our existing themed areas work, while also Identifying opportunities and themes where Movement Physical Activity and Sport will improve the health and wellbeing of our communities.
You will have the willingness and ability to travel around the borough to meet the needs of the service / role.
