Sitting within the Adult Social Care and Health Directorate, the Adult Commissioning Service are seeking a proactive and innovative Commissioning Manager to join our dynamic, well-established team, and to hold and lead the Social Care portfolio.

You will be responsible for your own portfolio of work, including development of strategic commissioning plans, market position statements and establishing strategic working relationships with stakeholders. You will be responsible for mentoring and leading a talented team of commissioning staff, including co-ordinating workplans to ensure alignment to the Directorate Vision and Strategy, in addition to the overarching Council Plan.

The ideal candidate should have substantial experience in commissioning within health, social care or housing, and expert knowledge of the commissioning cycle, relevant legislation and best practice. The candidate will have working knowledge of, and exposure to, procurement legislation relevant to public sector procurement.

Whilst experience in both commissioning and management is preferred, this post is also suitable for experienced strategic commissioners who want to take the next step into a management and leadership role. Middlesbrough Council has a comprehensive Management Development Programme which can support the successful postholder where this may be your first management position.
