‘Click Shifts’ helped over 170 carers set their own wages

The new trailblazing platform is allowing for workers to be paid above the national hourly rate and keep 100% of their earnings.

According to recent statistics, there were 131,000 unfilled UK care worker vacancies in 2024 however the launch of a new software called Click Shifts is helping to change this.

The online platform, which was launched in September last year, allows carers, once they’ve been vetted, to publish their availability to work and set their own hourly wage. As it stands, 169 workers have completed this including 37 in the Northwest.

What’s more, carers on the platform are earning an average of £14.38 an hour, which is miles above the national hourly average which, according to data from Skills for Care, was just over £11 last year.

‘it is fantastic to see so many brilliant care workers from across the UK signing up to Click Shifts and being empowered to set their own pay and availability,’ Phil Hitchcox, strategic development director at Flourish – the organisation responsible for Click Shift – said. ‘But also, we know that the care providers love the simplicity of being able to source fully vetted care workers and select them based on their CVs, suitability and availability.’

‘The latest statistics show there were 131,000 vacant posts in 2024, and we will continue to play an active role in addressing this situation by removing barriers and helping the profession be an attractive choice,’ Phil added.
