Greenham Trust partners with local council to launch new fund to help voluntary and community organisations working to enhance mental health and well-being across local authority.
A total of £90,000 is being made available by West Berkshire Council and the Greenham Trust for the Let’s Get Mindful (LGM) funding scheme to support local groups that support mental health and well-being.
The initiative is timely, with as many as one-in-four adults experiencing at least one diagnosable mental health problem in a year.
The aim of LGM funding is to enable local, not-for-profit organisations to carry out activities, provide support, make one-off purchases or set up new initiatives that help improve the mental health and well-being of residents and support those with mental health challenges. It’s targeted at smaller organisations that operate in West Berkshire.
The fund will provide grants of varying sizes from £500 and up for meaningful, impactful projects or initiatives. It will also help to ensure that such organisations have access to financial resources to expand their work and offer additional support, as well as to purchase needed new equipment.
In assessing applications, the team behind the fund will, where possible, focus on areas in West Berkshire considered most in need and on projects that support people considered vulnerable and/or isolated. Funding will be allocated on a rolling basis as applications are approved.
Qualifying organisations can apply through the Good Exchange website.
Run by the Greenham Trust charity, the Good Exchange site provides a single-application process for grants applications, as well as for fundraising and driving donations, for organisations within the local area.
Cllr Patrick Clark, Executive Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health at West Berkshire Council, says: ‘We’re delighted to be working with Greenham Trust on this excellent project. The support the Let’s Get Mindful fund offers can bring about great changes in people’s lives and give a financial boost in areas and initiatives that need it most.’
Chris Boulton, Chief Executive of Greenham Trust, adds: ‘We are proud to collaborate with West Berkshire Council on the Let’s Get Mindful fund. This initiative provides a vital opportunity for local charities and community groups to access the resources they need to make a transformational impact on people’s lives. By offering grants, we hope to support the organisations working tirelessly to improve the quality of life for those facing mental health challenges in our community.’
