Next month, Essex-based Seaside Care Homes opens its second residential care home for people with complex needs – and is actively looking for staff.
Next month, Seaside Care Homes opens Marella Lodge, a new £500,000 residential care facility that can accommodate up to four people aged 18-64 who have complex health needs. The new care home has been designed to be fully accessible and developed to the highest standards. The idea is to make it a home-from-home environment that can be adapted to meet the individual needs of its residents.
The organisation is now actively recruiting for support worker roles at the new home. Initially, more than 10 jobs will be created at Marella Lodge but this could increase to 30 depending on the care needs of residents.
Successful applicants will help to provide a stimulating, creative and varied environment at Marella Lodge, promoting residents’ individual development and maximising both their quality of life and independence. In this, the new staff will be supported by specialist nursing staff, a clinical coordinator and management team, all led by managing director Amanda Owen who is former Children’s Matron at Colchester General Hospital.
A recruitment open day will be held on Wednesday, April 10, where those interested in joining the Seaside Care Homes team can learn more about the role, the experience needed and the training and benefits available.
Seaside Care Homes was founded in 2008 by Sarah Crow and Amanda Owen, the latter a former Children’s Matron at Colchester General Hospital. Marella Lodge is the fourth residential care home that director/manager Owen has opened, and Seaside Care Homes also runs Driftwood Lodge – which opened in Clacton in 2017. In March 2022, the company was acquired by investment group, Tristone Healthcare.
Amanda Owen says: ‘The opening of a new residential care home, specifically designed to meet the needs of young people with complex health needs, is another significant milestone for Seaside Care Homes. The much-needed home will perfectly complement our existing facility also in Clacton and comes at a time when demand for such a facility is extremely high.
‘We are looking to grow our talented team and bring onboard like-minded individuals who reflect our values and have a very care-centric approach to their work – people who are passionate and committed about ensuring the best possible outcomes for the young people in our care. These individuals may have limited experience in a social care setting. Most importantly, they must demonstrate empathy, understanding and patience.’
